An electric machine mover skate can provide controlled floor travel for a press when the press manufacturer permits the proposed handling method. Selecting it starts with the press’s transport mass and structural support arrangement. The forming-force number on the press is a different quantity and cannot be used as the moving equipment’s required load rating.
Press relocation also brings a distinctive stability problem: a tall frame may carry substantial mass above a relatively narrow base. Tooling, a moving slide, a hydraulic power unit or a flywheel can affect that balance. The moving package must suit the whole transport configuration, from the frame contact to the final transfer onto its operating foundation.
Electric Machine Mover Skate Capacity Follows Mass, Not Pressing Force
A press rating describes force available for forming or pressing work. Machine transport weight describes the mass that the handling equipment supports. A high-force compact hydraulic press and a large mechanical press with the same forming-force designation can have very different frames, dimensions and transport weights. Their moving arrangements cannot be selected from the shared pressing-force number.
Even the correct transport mass does not specify the reaction on one skate. The frame geometry, position of heavy assemblies and actual support locations determine how much weight reaches each component. A press with an offset hydraulic power pack can load one side differently from the other. A symmetrical enclosure does not establish a symmetrical distribution underneath it.
A powered unit also has two distinct duties: it carries an assigned reaction and supplies movement to the supported arrangement. Its supported-load capacity must suit that reaction, while its moving rating applies within the permitted system and floor conditions. Adding the capacities of several unrelated components does not verify the resulting combination.
For an electric machine mover skate enquiry, identify the press model, transport weight and approved handling arrangement. Use the press documentation or a competent assessment to establish the individual reactions. The forming-force nameplate remains relevant to production work, but it does not size the floor-moving system.

Press Frame Construction Determines The Moving Contacts
Press frames provide structural routes from the upper assemblies into their bases. In an H-frame arrangement, the uprights connect the upper structure and working region to the lower frame; an open-sided frame or a long press brake presents a different structure and underside. A moving contact must meet the designated lower-frame bearing area, not simply a surface beneath the upper assembly. The frame’s transport drawing identifies that area; its location cannot be transferred from another frame type.
The support needs to engage a permitted structural area over a suitable contact surface. If a pad bears on an edge, bridges an opening or rests on a part intended only to enclose mechanisms, the local effect differs from bearing on the intended frame station. The fact that a skate fits into the gap does not make that gap an approved support location.
Upper assemblies need their specified transport condition as well. The slide, ram, tooling and auxiliary equipment may require securing or removal according to the press model. A transporter does not prevent an unsecured assembly from moving relative to the frame. Nor should the operating hydraulic pressure be treated as a substitute for the prescribed transport restraint.
These considerations set the useful boundary for an electric machine mover skate. It can move a correctly prepared, appropriately supported press; it does not establish the preparation method or turn every frame projection into a load-bearing interface. Where a press specifies another handling method, that requirement determines the equipment discussion.

Electric Machine Mover Skate Specifications
The YG configurations below offer different supported-load limits and chassis dimensions. They provide a basis for matching the powered component after the press’s support arrangement has been established. The other rolling supports and any lifting equipment require their own suitable specifications.
| YG electric machine skate configuration | 30T | 40T | 60T |
| Powered-unit load capacity | 15 metric tons | 20 metric tons | 30 metric tons |
| Listed towing weight | 30 metric tons | 40 metric tons | 60 metric tons |
| Motor arrangement | 1200 W × 2 | 1500 W × 2 | 3000 W × 2 |
| Overall dimensions | 740 × 640 × 185 mm | 810 × 800 × 182 mm | 1110 × 800 × 185 mm |
| Battery voltage and capacity | 48 V, 60 Ah | 48 V, 120 Ah | 48 V, 120 Ah |
The 60T configuration has a 30-ton powered-unit load capacity. Its 60-ton towing figure does not allow 60 tons on its upper support. A complete moving arrangement must support all of the press’s required reactions, not only the reaction assigned to the powered chassis.
The chassis dimensions matter during insertion and removal. A longer unit may fit beneath one press base but obstruct a required lifting or landing access point beneath another. Working height must also be compatible with the remaining supports. Selecting an electric machine mover skate involves these interfaces as well as motor power and total moving mass.
Compare the YG chassis dimensions with the lifting and insertion method permitted for the press.

Press Stability During Powered Turning And Stopping
A tall press can place much of its mass well above the moving supports. For the same lateral force, applying that force higher above the floor produces a larger turning effect that tends to overturn the assembly. The temporary support contacts define the footprint resisting that tendency; a wide enclosure does not widen those contacts. Stability assessment therefore needs the press’s actual balance, support spacing and permitted movement conditions, not mass alone.
During a turn, a follower unable to roll along its required path introduces resistance at the base. If the drive continues to push against it, the force acts on the supported press instead of producing the intended rolling movement. A tall assembly makes that disturbance especially important to the stability assessment. Compatible follower movement, suitable floor contacts and controlled changes of motion must work together; a larger motor cannot correct an unsuitable support arrangement.
The operator’s view needs to cover more than the powered chassis. A press may have projections near head height while the transporter is close to the floor. A person watching only the front wheels can miss a high obstruction or a problem at a rear support. The communication arrangement must make those observations available to the person commanding movement.
No universal speed, slope or stopping-distance claim follows from these principles. An electric machine mover skate should be considered within the supplied equipment’s limits and the press’s assessed moving arrangement. If the frame loses proper support or a component shifts, movement stops while the load is restored to a suitable supported condition.

Press Landing Must Restore Its Operating Support Condition
The rolling arrangement is temporary. Once the press reaches its destination, its weight must transfer onto the specified foundation, feet or mounting arrangement. Space for lifting equipment and removal of the skates must remain available until that transfer is complete. A position that suits production clearances can still be unsuitable for the intermediate landing operation.
The operating foundation has a different job from the temporary rolling supports. It supports the press during its working cycle, with the specified anchoring, levelling, vibration-related provisions and bearing contacts. A moving unit’s rating describes its transport duty, not its ability to serve as that working foundation. Return the press to its specified installed condition; operation on moving supports requires an expressly designed arrangement rather than an inference from their carrying capacity.
- Establish the permitted final support and anchoring arrangement for the press model before choosing the temporary moving contacts.
- Define how the weight will transfer from the rolling supports without losing the required support condition or trapping equipment beneath the base.
- Complete the press-specific installation and functional checks after landing, including the correct treatment of transport restraints and reconnected services.
In a press-moving equipment enquiry, distinguish the press’s transport weight from its forming force, and identify how the frame will return to its operating foundation. The electric machine mover skate remains the floor-travel component: the temporary support footprint and the final foundation solve different parts of the relocation.

Electric Machine Mover Skate FAQs
Use the actual machine transport mass and the reactions at the approved supports. A forming-force rating describes production force and does not establish the weight carried by moving equipment.
The required transport position and restraint depend on the press model. A normal operating position or retained hydraulic pressure does not automatically provide the prescribed transport condition.
An enclosure edge is not a substitute for an approved structural support location. The contact must transfer its reaction into the press frame without relying on covers, thin projections or unsupported feet.
Centre-of-gravity height, temporary support footprint and lateral forces affect stability. Weight alone does not describe the behaviour of the complete machine during turning or stopping.
Do not treat temporary moving equipment as an operating foundation. The press must return to its specified installation support condition unless a purpose-designed arrangement expressly permits another condition.
